Ersoy Kocabıçak was born in Samsun on 04.12.1971. He graduated from medical faculty of Ondokuz Mayıs University in 1996. He completed Neurosurgery specialty in the same university in 2006. He started working in Neurosurgery department of Ondokuz Mayıs University as an assistant professor in 2009. He completed both stereotactic and functional neurosurgery training and neuroscience doctorate program about deep brain stimulation in Parkinson's disease at Maastricht University in 2011.

He took part in the establishment of surgical training group of movement disorders and psychiatric diseases in medical faculty of Ondokuz Mayıs University. He was in charge of construction and foundation of the Neuromodulation Center, which brings movement disorders, psychiatric diseases and pain surgery disciplines together and was founded for the first time in Turkey in Ondokuz Mayis university and he was appointed as the head of this center.

His professional and scientific interests besides routine neurosurgery are; Movement disorders, Epilepsy, brain tumors surgery and psychiatric surgery.

He is still working at Ondokuz Mayıs University. However, he also works as a visiting consultant lecturer at Istanbul Atlas University on certain days of the week. He has over 100 national and international publications and poster papers regarding deep brain stimulation in movement disorders, epilepsy and psychiatric disorders.

Between 2013-2015, 2015-2017, 2017-2019 he served as secretary and vice chief of Stereotactic Functional Pain and Epilepsy Surgery Teaching and Training Group for 2 terms and 1 term respectively and currently he is the chief of this group. He is a committee member in the functional section of European association of Neurosurgical societies (EANS). He is also a board member (general secretary) of the National Neuromodulation Research-Education Association. He also works as a consultant and instructor at universities and hospitals in Turkey and abroad regarding deep brain stimulation surgeries.

He is a member of national and international associations such as Turkish Neurosurgical Society, World and European Society for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery (WSSFN, ESSFN), International Parkinson and movement disorders Society (MDS), International Neuromodulation Society (INS) and Mediterranean Neuroscience Society (MNS). He has served as chairman or committee member in several international and national organizations related to functional neurosurgery so far.

He has given over 40 invited speeches in scientific and social meetings related with his specialty field.
